Orders
When can I order?
When the first models are listed. We're agreeing terms with makers now. Join the list and we'll email you.
How much will kits cost?
Prices aren't set yet, so every kit shows Price TBC. Each listing will show the price, delivery and total before you pay.
Can I cancel?
Yes. When ordering opens, you can cancel at any time before dispatch for a full refund, and for 14 days after delivery.
Do you offer fitting?
No. You set a plug-in kit up yourself. For an outdoor socket, an RCD check or a wall assessment, use a qualified professional you choose.
Kits
How much power goes into my home?
Up to 800W (799VA). The microinverter caps it, however much panel power the kit has.
Why buy more panel power then?
More panel power reaches the cap for more of the day: mornings, evenings and cloudy spells. Over 960W of panels, consider a professional check of your electrics.
What socket do I need?
A weatherproof outdoor socket within reach of the kit's own cable, and modern RCD protection in your fuse box. No extension leads. An electrician can fit or check them.
Can a kit go on my wall?
A wall-or-ground kit can, on your own solid house wall, after a professional assessment. Never a boundary wall, cladding or a timber wall. Ground kits stay on the ground.
Can I add a battery?
No. Plug-in kits must not be used with a home battery.
Rules
Do I have to register it?
Yes, free at myplugin.solar, before you first use it.
How many kits can I have?
One per household.
I rent. Can I have one?
Ask your landlord for written permission first. They can say no. Leaseholders need the freeholder's or managing agent's permission.
Should I tell my insurer?
Yes, tell your home insurer before you set it up.
Where can I use a kit?
England, Scotland and Wales. Not Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.
Do I need planning permission?
For most homes in England, no, within limits. Listed buildings and street-facing walls in conservation areas are excluded. In Scotland and Wales, check with your council before fixing a kit to a wall. More on the rules.
